Armed robbers stole approximately 20,000 euros from one of the shops belonging to Antonela Roccuzzo, the wife of Argentine legend Lionel Messi.
According to the Spanish "Marca," the armed men were quick in the robbery operation, as they got out of their car, broke the glass of a vehicle near Antonela and store employees.
After breaking the glass, the gunmen took two bags containing 8 million Argentine pesos, equivalent to more than 20,000 euros, before firing at least once and fleeing the scene. One of the employees said after the incident, "We were preparing to go from the store to the bank to deposit the amount before they broke the glass and took the money."
This is not the first time that Messi's relatives have been subjected to an armed attack. In March of last year, also in Rosario, gunfire was opened from an automatic weapon at the electronic door of one of Antonela's family stores with a message written on it, "We are waiting for you, Messi, be afraid, the corrupt mayor of Rosario will not help you."
Investigators believe that the attack has political motives ahead of the upcoming elections, according to Pablo Javkin, the mayor of Rosario, and that Messi's name was used only to shed more light.
